Mother’s Love
Text: 1 Kings 3:16-28
Introduction: A mother’s love for her child can be contrasted to the
love God has for sinners.
I. Unselfish – Sacrificial
John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a
man lay down his life for his friends.”
A. Willing to give up her son –
B. Provides for her children – God provided the sacrifice: Gen. 22:8
“And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt
offering: so they went both of them together.”
C. Willing to give up her life – career
II. Comforts
John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy
Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all
things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have
said unto you.”
A. Words
1. Emotions – Illustration “Why are you crying?”
2. Tender Hearted
3. Loving
B. Ways
1. Touch
2. Timing
C. Ministers
III. Concern
A. Looking out for their best interest
B. Does not want them to make the same mistakes
C. Wants only the best
IV. Prays – Rom. 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our
infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but
the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which
cannot be uttered.”
A. Consistently

C. Earnestly
Conclusion: Won’t you thank God this morning for Mother’s.
