HOW TO BUILD A HEDGE

Text: Job 1:10 “Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.”
We can and must build a protection around us, our families, our possessions, etc. James 4:7-8 say’s Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Satan is after Christians
I Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

How do we do this:

I. God Has Given Us Angels For Protection

Daniel 10, Acts 12, Acts 27
1. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. Psalm 34:7
2. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. Psalms 91:11
3. But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? 14Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Hebrews 1:13-14
4. Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Exodus 23:20

II. Fervent, Earnest, Intercessory Prayer

1. And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. Job 1:5
2. Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: I Samuel 12:23

III. The Word of God

1. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11
2. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
3. And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. Deuteronomy 6:5-9
When weak (1 Corinthians 10:13; Phil. 4:13).
When afraid (II Tim. 1:7; Psalm 56:3; Psalm 50:15; Proverbs 3:24-26).
Battling with Satan (James 4:7-8; I John 4:4).
Needs (Phil. 4:19; Psalm 37:23-28).
When worry strikes (Matt. 11:28-30; I Peter 5:7; Phil. 4:6-7).
Enemies (Romans 8:31).
Problems (Romans 8:28; II Corinthians 2:14).

IV. Build a Hedge Between You and All Evil
1. Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thes 5:22
2. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalms 1:1-3

V. Stay Under Your God-given Earthly Authority.
1. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. Hebrews 13:17
2. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 1 Corinthians 11:3
3. Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
Ephesians 6:1-3

VI. The Name and Work of Jesus Christ
1. And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:17,19
2. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelation 12:11
3. The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. Proverbs 18:10
4. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Mat. 21:22
