"A Father To Follow"

Text: 2 Cor. 6:14-18 “and I will receive you, 18And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”

 
Introduction: Today is Father’s Day. What a special day! Fathers are special! Only 1/3 or 1 out 3 children have a father living with them. Be thankful for fathers.

 
I. To All That Believe – Romans 4:11 “And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
A. Those that have chosen Him
B. All of the people in the world are not God’s Children
C. The God the Father sacrificed His son for you.
1. Sacrifice
a. unselfish
b. time
c. money
 
II. An Example to Follow – 1 Tim. 4:12 “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
A. Awesome Responsibility
B. In Word, lifestyle, giving sacrificially, all that you are, faith, and pure.
C. Morality
 
III. A Comforting Touch – 2 Cor. 1:3 “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
A. Merciful
B. Patient
C. Strong
D. Love

IV. A Teacher to Listen To – Eph. 1:17 “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
A. Trust
B. Admiration
C. Confidence
 
Conclusion: God is a Father you can follow anywhere, any time, and any place. Are you that kind of a father? Are you a father that your children can count on?
