God's Way Is Best
Text: Isaiah 55:1-13
Introduction: Everyone wants it done their way in our society today.
In commercials we are told you can have it your at Burger King. People
are used to doing things the way they want no matter what the
consequences.
If it feels good philosophy. Just do it. Nobody tells me how to do it.
I. The Relinquishment – (Ps. 37:5)
“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring
it to pass.”
A. Some Christians insist on clinging to their own ways. They lack
spiritual victory.
B. If we are to enjoy God’s best, we must yield our way, will, work,
and walk, to Him. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord,
so walk ye in him: Col. 2:6
C. To walk in God’s way and please Him we must totally commit our
time, talent, and treasure to Him.
II. The Reliance – “Trust also in
him”
A. Christians often fail to trust in the Lord as they should. They
rely on their own strength and fail.
B. Some Christians depend too much on doctors, lawyers, or friends. We
should be thankful for the help of others, but our ultimate trust must
be in God.
C. We should trust in the Lord with our “whole spirit and soul and
body” (1 Thess. 5:23). Bank accounts may fail, money markets may fail,
possessions may fail, but Jesus never fails.
D. God’s way is best. The Scripture says, And the LORD shall help
them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and
save them, because they trust in him. (Ps. 37:40)
III. The Reward – “And he shall
bring it to pass”
A. God rewards those who are committed to His ways.
“Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they
that keep my ways”. (Proverbs 8:32)
B. God rewards His children by enabling them to be a blessing to
others. Their influence reaches out to attract others to Christ.
C. God’s way is best. He not only rewards the faithful in this life,
but He rewards them also in the next life eternally.
D. Heb. 11:4 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he
that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder
of them that diligently seek him.”
Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare
a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that
where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:2,3)
Conclusion: There are great rewards and blessings promised to us by
God if we will just do it His way. We must obey His Holy Word and
follow the map that He has left for us and preserved for us.
Illustration: A map found in an attic of an old house which will lead
you to a host of treasures.
The path to the look out at Seneca Rock in West Virginia was winding
and long. We had to stick to the path and follow the signs to reach
our destination safely. It would have been a lot shorter to go
straight up, but we never would have made it.
