loaves, and two fishes." V.17
D. BUT GOD! “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to
confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to
confound the things which are mighty; 28And base things of the world,
and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which
are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29That no flesh should
glory in his presence.”
1 Corinthians 1:27-29
1. Moses. (Exodus 4:2) And the LORD said unto him, What is that in
thine hand? And he said, A rod.
2. David. (1 Samuel 17:49, 50) And David put his hand in his bag, and
took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his
forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his
face to the earth. 50So David prevailed over the Philistine with a
sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but
there was no sword in the hand of David.
3. A certain poor widow. (Mark 12:41-44) And Jesus sat over against
the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury:
and many that were rich cast in much. 42And there came a certain poor
widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. 43And he
called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto
you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have
cast into the treasury: 44For all they did cast in of their abundance;
but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
E. Bring them hither to me.
III. THE MIRACLE. (Verse 19)
A. He took the five loaves and the two fishes.
B. He blessed them and multiplied them!
C. And they did all eat and were filled. (V.21)
D. Jesus satisfies the hungry soul! (John 6:35) And Jesus said unto
them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger;
and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
E. Plenty left over. (V.20)
Conclusion:
A. You don’t need to depart lost and hungry for the Bread of Life.
B. Jesus will satisfy your hunger this morning
C. Christian, are you giving unto Jesus what you have?
Job 1:21 “And Job said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and
naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken
away; blessed be the name of the LORD. 22In all this Job sinned not,
nor charged God foolishly.”
