HE SHALL
STRENGTHEN YOUR HEART
Text: Psalm 31:19-24 (V.24b)
Introduction:
A. Wouldn't it be great if we could stay on the mountain top all the
time?
But we can't! We all have our valleys to go through.
B. You may be in a valley this morning.
C. If so, this message is for you.
I. IT IS EASY FOR HEARTS TO BECOME
DISCOURAGED IN THIS DAY AND TIME.
A. Sin can get you down.
B. (Genesis 6:5-8) And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in
the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was
only evil continually. 6And it repented the LORD that he had made man
on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7And the LORD said, I
will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both
man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for
it repenteth me that I have made them. 8But Noah found grace in the
eyes of the LORD.
1. Immorality everywhere.
2. Evening News is all bad news!
3. Sin in the school and in the work place.
C. Adversity can get you down.
D. Sickness.
1. Troubles.
2. Death.
E. Indifference can get you down.
II. AND GOD SEEMS FAR AWAY! (Verse 22a)
A. God is nearer than you think.
B. Satan wants you to believe that God is far away and does not care
that you are hurting.
C. Even the great servants of God in the Bible had their share of
troubles and heartaches.
1. Look at Job.
2. Remember the Prophet Elijah.
3. And there was Jeremiah.
III. BUT REMEMBER HIS PROMISE! (Text; Psalm 27:14)
What the Bible says! (Psalm 9:9,10; The LORD also will be a refuge for
the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy
name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken
them that seek thee.
A. Hebrews 13:5,6 5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and
be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never
leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is
my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.;
B. Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or
peril, or sword? 36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all
the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37Nay, in
all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved
us. 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels,
nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to
come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able
to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.)
C. You can find strength in God's Word!
