The Holy Spirit and The Bible

1. The Word of God is eternal. Psalms 119:89, “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” The Word of God was in heaven before the world was ever created. The last verse in Revelation was in Heaven before the first verse of Genesis was ever given to man. This forever settles the truth of verbal inspiration. God did not make His Word fit a man, He made a man to fit His Word.

2. God gave His Word to man. 2 Peter 1:20,21 “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

3. The Holy Spirit accompanies the Word of God. 1 Peter 1:12 “Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.”

3. 4. The Holy Spirit quickens the Word of God. John 6:63 “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

5. The Holy Spirit teaches the deeper truths of the Word of God. 1 Corinthians 2:9,10 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
