How Long Wilt Thou Sleep?


Text: Prov. 6:9 – 11 & Rev. 3:16

Introduction: The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ has been lulled by the world. It has fallen asleep at the wheel. It has become complacent and content. Christians have become lukewarm.

I. Drowsy
A. Can’t See As Well
1. Sin
2. Your True Condition
3. Where You Going
B. You Reaction Slows
C. Impairs Performance

II. Some Causes
A. Fatigue
B. A progressive withdrawal of attention to the tasks required for God.
C. Preoccupation,
D. Distractions

III. Be Sober… Be Vigilant… 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
A. WAKE UP!
B. WATCH!
C. PAY ATTENTION!

IV. Are You Fulfilling The Great Commission?
A. Mat. 28:19,20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
1. Go – Applies to all believers
a. there is no excuse
2. Teach – Greek word matheôteuoô which means to make disciples.
3. Baptize – All Disciples
4. Teaching – Greek word didaskoô means to give instructions.
B. Stay Awake, Stay Alert, look for opportunities.
C. Serve The Lord Whole-Heartedly
