I Want that
Mountain!
Text: Joshua 14:6 - 12
Introduction: God has a mountain for you and for me. To get to the top
takes some determination and faith to get there. The path is not
always clear cut and marked. To begin the climb first you must be born
again!
I. The Outset - But seek ye first
the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall
be added unto you. 34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the
morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. (Mat. 6:33)
A. God must come first.
B. Many loose the Christians race before they start it.
C. They depend on a change of mind rather than a change of heart.
D. Or they base their profession on feelings rather than God’s
promises.
II. The Outlook - Rejoice in the
Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. (Phil. 4:8)
A. Keep your Eyes on the Lord.
B. Keep your eyes on where you are headed.
C. Don’t look back. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his
hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Luke 9:62
D. We must be optimistic, looking for the good not the bad.
III. The Outreach - Now then we
are ambassadors for Christ,…
(2Cor. 5:20)
A. Reach out to others. Helping others, witnessing
B. Your voice carries much further.
C. Heard by multitudes. Example: Jesus preached from the side of
mountains.
IV. The Outcome - I have fought a
good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which
the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to
me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. (2 Tim.
4:7,8)
A. Blessings
B. Rewards
C. Mountain top experiences.
D. The whole picture of life. Like Moses could see the promised land.
E. Those that reject Christ will loose the race. Their destiny will be
sealed.
Conclusion: Where do you stand today. At the foot of the mountain.
Half way. Almost to the top. Keep climbing higher. Experience God at a
higher plane.
