Christmas Is A
Time Of Caring And Sharing!
Text: Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be
called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace.”
Intro: 740 years before Jesus was born the Prophet Isaiah wrote these
words under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
I. Caring Is …
A. Having Compassion For Others
1. God The Father Gave His Son
2. Jesus Gave His Life
3. The Disciples Sold Everything To Follow Jesus
B. Showing Mercy Toward Others
1. God Showed Mercy Toward Lot
2. Psalms 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days
of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”
3. God’s mercy is never just a feeling but is expressed by His action
C. Expressing Real Love For Others
1. Real Love Is Sacrificial
2. Real Loves Speaks For Itself
1 Cor. 13:1 – 8 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling
cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all
mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I
could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3And
though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my
body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity
vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5Doth not behave itself
unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no
evil; 6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7Beareth
all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all
things. 8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they
shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there
be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9For we know in part, and we
prophesy in part. 10But when that which is perfect is come, then that
which is in part shall be done away. 13And now abideth faith, hope,
charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
II. Sharing …
A. Your Faith With Others
1. Like The Star Over Bethlehem
Mat. 2:9 – 11 “When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo,
the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came
and stood over where the young child was. 10When they saw the star,
they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11And when they were come into
the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell
down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures,
they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”
B. Your Blessings With Others
Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed
down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your
bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be
measured to you again.”
C. Is Giving To Others
Acts 20:35 “I have showed you all things, how that so labouring ye
ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord
Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
III. Remember What Christmas Is Really About!
A. Celebrate Jesus’ Birthday!
B. Share Your Faith
C. Bless Others
